Punta Gorda Isles
This is an aerial picture of Punta Gorda Isles. This area was developed by the Punta Gorda Isles Company starting in the 60's. There are untold miles of saltwater canals with concrete seawalls that are actually owned and maintained by the City of Punta Gorda. It is bordered by a nature preserve on the west and south. Punta Gorda is mainly a boating and golf communityand Punta Gorda Isles is the best boating location due to access, water depth and property deed restrictions which keep properties neat and well maintained.
Within Punta Gorda Isles is St. Andrews South Golf Club which is a private club but not expensive to join since it is not an equity club. The Isles Yacht Club has a joint membership with St. Andrews for use of both facilities. Punta Gorda Isles also has a civic association which has a new facility with Tennis and meeting facilities. The Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association also has numerous clubs such as boating clubs, tennis, fishing, computer and the like. The Isles Yacht Club finished it's new building in 2007. Isles Yacht Club has gained praise and awards from the community and is a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs giving reciprocals to all the other clubs. Gay and I have visited eighteen of these clubs on our boat Dreamtime.
Most homes in the area are waterfront, some are golf course views and a very few are neither. Numerous condominium developments also reside inside Punta Gorda Isles giving the potential homeowner a choice of residential options.
