Isles Yacht Club

The Isles Yacht Clubopened it's new building in 2006 after being destroyed by Hurricane Charley (Thank You Charley!)  Isles Yacht Club is now the jewel of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs.  One of the many benefits of the Florida Council is reciprocity with the finest Yacht Clubs in Florida.  Gay and I have visited eighteen different clubs by boat.  The only ones we have missed are north of Stuart on the Atlantic Coast.  The other big benefit is a rich and varied social life.  Punta Gorda is ideally situated for boating by being at the north end of Charlotte Harbor providing sheltered waters as well as access to the Intercoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico.  One may travel to Ft. Myers down the Intercoastal, navigate the Caloosahatchee River to Lake Okeechobee, travel the St. Lucie Canal and come out on the Atlantic Coast at Stuart.  The Florida Keys are also easily accessible as well as Naples and to the north; Venice, Sarasota, Bradenton, Tampa, St. Pete and Tarpon Springs.
